Position Overview

The EDI Lead will be responsible for designing, implementing, and managing all Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) integrations across the supply chain ecosystem. This role ensures seamless data exchange between internal systems (ERP, WMS, TMS, MES) and external trading partners (suppliers, customers, logistics providers). The EDI Lead will drive integration strategy, oversee EDI operations, ensure compliance with standards, and support continuous improvement initiatives in supply chain digitalization.

Key Responsibilities

1. EDI Integration & Architecture

• Lead the design and implementation of end-to-end EDI architecture for supply chain operations.

• Configure, build, and maintain EDI maps (ANSI X12, EDIFACT, XML, JSON, APIs).

• Manage integrations between ERP (SAP/Oracle/MS Dynamics), WMS, TMS, SCM platforms, and trading partner systems.

• Ensure EDI workflows meet business rules, compliance standards, and operational SLAs.

2. EDI Operations & Support

• Oversee daily EDI transactions, error handling, reprocessing, and exceptions management.

• Monitor and troubleshoot EDI failures, communication issues, and mapping errors.

• Manage onboarding of new suppliers/customers/3PLs to the EDI platform.

• Work closely with IT infrastructure teams to ensure connectivity (AS2, SFTP, VAN, APIs).

3. Supply Chain Process Enablement

• Support supply chain processes including procurement, order management, shipment execution, inventory management, invoicing, ASN, and returns.

• Drive automation of business workflows to reduce manual intervention.

• Collaborate with planning, logistics, procurement, finance, and production teams to refine data exchange needs.

4. Governance, Compliance & Security

• Ensure adherence to global EDI standards and trading partner specifications.

• Maintain documentation for mappings, workflows, partner profiles, and SOPs.

• Implement controls for data quality, security, and audit compliance.

5. Leadership & Vendor Management

• Lead a small team of EDI analysts/developers as required.

• Manage coordination with EDI service providers, VANs, middleware vendors, and system integrators.

• Provide technical and functional guidance to cross-functional teams.

6. Continuous Improvement

• Identify opportunities to improve integration reliability, performance, and scalability.

• Evaluate modern integration tools (API-based, iPaaS, cloud-EDI) for future adoption.

• Contribute to digital transformation initiatives within the supply chain.

Required Skills & Qualifications

Technical Skills

• Strong hands-on experience with EDI standards: ANSI X12, EDIFACT, XML, JSON.

• Proficiency in EDI tools/platforms such as Seeburger, OpenText, IBM Sterling, Cleo, Gentran, Mulesoft, Boomi, SAP PI/PO.

• Expertise in EDI communication protocols (AS2, SFTP, FTP, OFTP, VAN).

• Experience in ERP/WMS/TMS integrations.

• Good understanding of supply chain data flows (PO, ASN, Invoice, Shipping Notice, Inventory updates).

• Knowledge of APIs, REST, SOAP, microservices is a plus.

Functional Skills

• Deep understanding of supply chain processes (Procure-to-Pay, Order-to-Cash, Logistics, Inventory).

• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.

• Experience working with global suppliers/customers and 3PL partners.

Leadership & Soft Skills

Educational & Experience Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Supply Chain, Engineering, or related field.

• 6–12 years of experience in EDI and supply chain systems integration.

• Prior experience as an EDI Lead/Architect preferred.

• Experience in manufacturing, retail, logistics, or distribution industry is an advantage.
